THE SHORT VERSION
We collect the minimum we need to build your plan and we never sell your data. We don't ask for your SSN, bank login, or card number; the one-shot tools don't save what you paste or upload; and the companies and plan you save are yours to delete anytime. When you use an AI feature, what you submit is sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) to generate your answer. The details are below.
1. Our approach
Okay, Next is operated by Okay, Next LLC, a California limited liability company (“we,” “us”). We collect the minimum we need to build your plan, and we're deliberate about what we don't collect. We don't sell your personal information.
2. What we collect
•
Account: your email and password (optional: you can start as a guest, in which case your plan is saved under an anonymous account with no name or email attached, until you add one; you can delete it any time).
•
Your situation: your location (city/state or ZIP), layoff date, and the priorities you choose. You type it in yourself; the app never asks your device for its location.
•
Your progress: which plan steps you complete, deadlines we calculate from your dates, and your weekly check-in answers.
•
Your job search: the applications you log, including the company name, role, status, and your notes.
•
Exit survey: your outcome and, only if you opt in, a testimonial.
•
AI features: the text you submit to a tool (intake answers, and what you paste in or upload, such as a resume) and any outputs you save.

Usage analytics: first-party events (such as the pages you view, the features and tools you use, and checkout steps) recorded in our own database so we can measure and improve the product. When you're signed in, events from the app are linked to your account. We don't use cookies for this, and we don't use third-party advertising or analytics trackers. Along with each event we record:
•
A random visitor ID that your browser creates on your first visit and keeps in its local storage (as “on_vid”), signed in or not, so we can count unique visitors. It stays until you clear this site's data.
•
Where you first came from: the “utm_source” or “ref” tag on the link you followed, or else the referring website's domain, or “Direct”. It's saved once in local storage (“on_src”) and sent with later events.
•
Approximate location: your US state, or your country outside the US, looked up once through our own “/api/geo” endpoint from the location our host (Vercel) derives from your IP address, then saved in local storage (“on_geo”). Never your city, and your IP address isn't stored in our analytics (our hosting providers' standard logs are covered under Technical, below).
•
Your browser's language setting, the site address you're on, and whether you're signed in.
•
Reading time and scroll depth: while a page is open and visible, a small signal every 15 seconds for the first two minutes and then every minute (stopping after about 40 minutes), carrying how far down the page you've scrolled.
•
Page performance: how long the page took to load, once per page load, and the text of up to three script errors on a page (cut to 200 characters) so we can find broken pages.
•
Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track: if your browser sends either signal, we don't create a visitor ID, page views and load times don't carry one, and we send no reading-time or scroll-depth signals at all. Page views, load times, first-touch source and approximate location are still counted, without an ID.
•
Technical: standard logs (such as IP and device/browser) from our hosting and error-monitoring providers.
3. What we don't collect, and what stays one-shot
•
We never ask for your Social Security number, bank login, or card number. Payments go through Stripe; we never see or store your full card details.
•
The one-shot AI tools (resume helper, job-posting analyzer, salary research) process what you paste or upload to give you an answer and don't save it to your account. Uploaded files are read in your browser; only the text is sent on, and the file itself never reaches our servers.
•
The companies, roles, plan, and check-ins you save are stored in your account so the app works for you, and they're deleted when you delete your account (see Section 8).
•
If document analysis ever launches, documents would be processed and then immediately deleted, not stored.
5. AI processing
When you use an AI feature, the text you submit is sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, to generate a response. Under Anthropic's commercial API terms, your inputs are not used to train their models and are retained only briefly to operate the service and for safety.
By using an AI feature, you consent to this processing. Please don't submit other people's confidential information.
6. Service providers (subprocessors)
•
Supabase: accounts, database, and backend functions.
•
Stripe: payment processing (we don't receive or store full card details).
•
Anthropic: AI processing of the inputs you submit.
•
Vercel: web hosting and content delivery.
•
Resend: sending email (such as deadline reminders).
•
Sentry: error monitoring (we scrub the text you enter before it's sent).
We require providers to protect your information and use it only to provide their service to us.
7. Cookies & local storage
We don't set cookies. We use your browser's local storage to keep you signed in (including guest sessions), to remember choices such as the language of the home page, to hold unfinished work until you save it (such as a plan you started before creating an account, and what you enter in the money guide's runway calculator), to cache public content such as news headlines, and to hold the analytics values described in Section 2 (“on_vid”, “on_src”, “on_geo”). Your saved progress itself is kept in your account on our servers. You can remove everything stored in your browser by clearing this site's data; we don't use third-party advertising cookies.
8. Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your information while your account is active. You can delete your plan and account at any time in Settings, after which we delete or anonymize your data, except where we're legally required to keep something (for example, payment records).
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your data, and to opt out of certain processing.
California (CCPA/CPRA): you can request access to or deletion of your data, and you have the right not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
